Time is running out to register for the Order of the Thistle! Register by Wednesday, May 21 to secure your spot. This year’s dinner is on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Sewall Castle, Needham Masonic Building, at 1101 Highland Ave, Needham, MA.
In the traditions of the United Kingdom, The Order of the Thistle in Scotland is one of the three most exalted orders of chivalry: the other two orders are the Order of the Garter in England and the Order of St. Patrick in Ireland. Our modern interpretation of The Order presented locally is an evening of fun, fellowship, and frivolity among fellow Freemasons solely for charitable purposes. It is not a Lodge meeting, nor does it have anything to do with or any association with the awarding of the original official Order of the Thistle. The original order was founded by King James VII of Scotland, who was also King James II of England, in 1687.
Membership is open to any Master Mason in good standing. Its purpose is to have fun while supporting the Children’s Dyslexia Centers in Massachusetts and the Grand Almoner’s Fund, both sponsored by the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.
Registration will be $99 for existing members and $189 for candidates, but an existing member who sponsors a candidate will receive a $10 discount. Candidates will receive a diploma, wallet card, and Order of the Thistle Glencairn whisky glass included in their price. If you’d like to support the Children’s Dyslexia Centers without attending, we are also collecting money with our registration.
The schedule for the evening is as follows:
4:30 pm – Doors open for guest registration and sale of Thistle pins, ties, and Glencairn whisky glasses
5:00 pm – Social period
5:30 pm – Dinner
7:00 pm – “The Order of the Thistle”
