The Family Life Committee is pleased to announce its next event, a New England Free Jacks rugby game on Sunday, May 5, 2024!
Before the game starts, we will enjoy a meal catered by Crest Catering at the Pageant Field Pavilion in Quincy. Rugby is a fast-paced, high-octane sport that is akin to football and soccer. American football is derived from an early version of the sport.

The 2024-2025 Abbott Scholarship is now available! The scholarship helps students who are connected to the fraternity to continue their education at an accredited institution of higher education. Ill∴ Leon M. Abbott, whom the scholarship is named after, was a member of the Valley of Boston, the Thrice Potent Master of Boston Lafayette Lodge of Perfection from 1904 to 1906, and Sovereign Grand Commander of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction from 1921 to 1932.

Obscure Holiday: Lame Duck Day
|
We’ve all had times when were in a position but it’s clear that our time is up. Whether it’s at our jobs after giving a two-week notice or being Worshipful Master after the election of our successor, there are times in life when we technically hold the title but are a “lame duck” waiting to move on. Next Tuesday, February 6 is just the obscure holiday for us, lame duck day!
Lame duck is often associated with politics to describe an office holder on their way out. Despite this, the term doesn’t originate in politics, instead, it was coined in economics as a third option to the bull and bear dichotomy.
