Installation of Officers Next Month
|
The Valley’s Triennial Installation of Officers is a month away; it will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Grand Lodge in Boston! The Installation starts at 4:00 p.m. It is a moment to look back on a year of accomplishments and celebrate the Valley of Boston.
This year’s installation is special because all four bodies will welcome a new line of officers, including a new presiding officer.

Spring Class Degrees of the Day

Time is running out to register for the Spring Class, all registrations must be in by next Friday, April 12, 2024! Don’t wait, register today!
The Spring Class will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Grand Lodge in Boston, and doors will open at 6:30 a.m. sharp. It is a great time to see your Scottish Rite Brothers from around the state, catch up on degrees, and more! Our production and degree teams are hard at work memorizing parts for the show, and as always we’ll have Crest Family Catering supply breakfast, lunch, and drinks throughout the day. The First Presidential Veto
|
Every day passes by with so many interesting, random historical facts that go unnoticed by many. Today is no different, as today is the anniversary of the first presidential veto!
The veto power was subject to an extensive debate in the Constitutional Convention. Although several states had given their governor veto power, they varied in how many votes, if any, could override a veto. At the Constitutional Convention, there was heavy debate over whether the veto should be as powerful as the King’s, which is absolute, or if he should even have the power. Ultimately, they decided on a compromise where the President was given the power to veto legislation but it was subject to a two-thirds override by Congress.
