Meet the Family Life Chairman

After another successful Children’s Holiday Party, the Family Life Committee is hard at work preparing an exciting 2025 with a new Chairman at the helm. Please join us in officially welcoming Bro. Carl D. Durham Jr, better known around Masonry as “Skip”, as the Chairman!
Bro. Durham was born in August 1969. During his youth, he was a member of Boston Chapter, Order of DeMolay, and was an avid marcher in the Drum and Bugle Corp. He marched the Contra Bass (marching tuba) with the Heightsmen of Arlington from 1977 to 1990, the Boston Crusaders in 1984, the Diplomats until 1987 and the Cadet of Bergen County in 1990.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Every year, we pause on the third Monday of January to reflect on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the ideals he stood for.
Dr. King was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929, in the Jim Crow Era. During childhood, King was shown nonviolent protest against racism by his father, who himself became a follower of the historic Martin Luther after visiting Germany. From a young age, King saw firsthand the pain of racism when a white friend’s father banned their friendship upon entering the segregated school system.

Next Monday, January 20, 2025, is the 60th Presidential Inauguration, where President-Elect Trump and Vice President-Elect Vance will be sworn in. This time tested tradition is a reaffirmation of our Democracy as a new President takes up the mantle of service for the American people. The Inauguration has a storied and important history.
After the ratification of the Constitution on June 21, 1788, the Congress of the Confederation set March 4, 1789, as the start of the new government. After the Electoral College met in the fall, it was clear that General Washington would be the first President, but logistics proved to make this difficult.
